Anyone that has read up, extensively, on historical tyrannies knows what's going on. Common fare here. The problem is that people have plenty of time for all kinds of mindless ventures and sendentary "entertainment," but won't spend an hour a week educating themselves.
Then factor in all the people that work for the government with all of its perks and entitlements, or used to, AHEM, and complain about the growth and scope of the government.
The list goes on, but we live in a society where far too few people are willing to step outside the "comfortable," mindless, entertainment rich, wealth-driven, etc. paradigm in which we live, in the interests of their both current as well as future liberty.
