A point here is WE created the mess by fleeing responsibility and abdicating ownership of both those chosen to represent us and the actually existing government. The arrangement was ab initio. People chase goods and governments chase more power. When masses rebel does the existing order by force of magic vanish? Do people after storming the Bastille suddenly become wise stewards?

history proves over and over again, that it is a momentary stop to the whole setup, but soon as things are established again, it all starts over. And over and over. For many thousands of years it has been like this. There are only a few short periods that I know of (in European history) where there was peace and people were happy. The one I remember best from history is Maria Theresia of Austria. Seems like all of her lands were happy then. Another one was Burgundy. But of course, I only know what we learned in school. Might be bent to the country I was in.
