As one of the useless bureaucrats I can definitively say that 50% could go and no one would miss them or even notice. During COVID when the entire workforce was able to declare themselves high-risk and stay home for a year and a half from work, we were never more efficient. Those of us who did have to go in to work (because we were the actual producers), got so much done because there were no meetings, no committees, and no layers upon layers of review to make decisions. We just made decisions and resource allocations, prioritized the work and got stuff done. It was the most efficient we've ever been. You could get by with only keeping the top 50% of the workforce. And because the Democrats feared that, they changed all of the annual evaluations to be pass or fail; no more scores on a 5 point scale. They should just pull the last scored evaluations out of the HR systems and fire the bottom half; then fire the HR people and the Equal Opportunity people (who were the DEI team but since Trump were rebranded to EO).
Also, I posted this Stack to FB, which is full of deranged & vaxx injured mental freaks who like to comment on my timeline (I don't read their retarded missives or reply to them). The caption to my post is "The rapidly metastasizing abomination that is the illegitimate Federal government has been shut down since yesterday due to democrats demanding $1.5 trillion in spending for illegal invader healthcare, child sex mutilation surgeries, and other deranged idiocy."

I also have a severely disabled grandchild who depends on Medicaid for the precious little services the government even provides. He’s a narcissistic, evil, vengeful little man who’s had everything handed to him over the course of his entire miserable and privileged life, and he hates everyone that isn’t rich, white and male. The writers of the Constitution wrote in the Preamble, the purpose of the Constitution, the words “ … to promote the general welfare … “. How does the Constitution promote the general welfare? It does so by greatly limiting the powers granted to the federal government. Where in the Constitution does it grant any power to the federal government over health issues? I challenge anyone to show me. Powers not granted to the federal government are reserved to the states and the people. Miscreants in Congress, the Executive Branch and the Judiciary have misconstrued the words “to promote the general welfare” to usurp powers from the states and the people with the resultant loss of liberty and its associated blessings. If the federal government was limited to the very few powers granted to it by the Constitution, the federal budget would be dramatically reduced, the income tax would no longer be necessary and ordinary, hardworking people would be able to afford to pay for their own healthcare.
The longest government shutdown was 35 days; the average is less than a week. In theory, this should be solved within a few weeks.
This isn't a good situation for anyone. The job market is abysmal, and, if you hit certain metrics, almost impossible. So if you're someone who has been laid off and no longer gets unemployment and doesn't have a spouse with a policy, you're screwed unless you try something non-traditional.
