FYI, I read a comment from a self-proclaimed oil/gas engineer on YouTube that the lines should have activated the “localization safety valves” (paraphrasing). This means that even if someone blows up the line, it should have shut off immediately and they should be able to fix/replace the broken sections. So that is an interesting consideration on top of all of this.

That is the way municipal supply lines operate. I would imagine someone involved with these was smart enough to do the same.

Not surprising as there might be the need to repair damage from a large ship anchor or loons blowing the pipe up.
