Internet search is suggesting the interviewer is Roger Bower, former NBC International journalist, long career going back to radio days, WOR TV. Had also been a Foreign Service Officer. If you are able to confirm his identity I found some very interesting information about him that would add very fitting facet to the story, otherwise won't go into.
