"And if the left can lay claim to whole swaths of the calendar, as well as the alphabet, why can't we have a month celebrating our basic freedoms?"
Bingo!! 🎯🎯🎯
Here in the South, we CELEBRATE July 4th as much as we can. There are flags on every single veteran's grave in our local cemetery, including and especially the grave of one veteran who fought in the American Revolution (yes, we're very proud of that). There are American flags all up and down Main Street in our nearby city and many of us put out our American flags on our homes. Most of us have big parties, inviting our friends and family and it's not unusual to have 200 or so guests at our July 4th parties. My next door neighbor is having a huge party tomorrow to which we've been invited and the party will be so large that she put up not one but 2 porta-potties! With all that fun going on why would we want to "stay home and be quiet"???
I'm now a senior, but when I was a kid, everyone celebrated the heck out of July 4. It's important to remember and honor our founders who suffered and died or ended up in prison so that we could live in freedom.
Thank you for this very excellent article, 2nd Smartest Guy, well done!!
As an Australian who has NO rights, I would say to every American, protect your rights at all costs, because if you let them slip away, you will have to fight a second war to get them back!
In spite of all the corruption, you are still a beacon of hope for the rest of us.
Such a great post. The 2nd amendment isn't about the right to deer hunt. It is about the right to protect ourselves from tyranny. Happy Independence Day!
“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." - Thomas Jefferson
"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master." - George Washington
The Second Amendment is what protects the whole of the Constitution. When one considers the insidious opposition to personal conscience and freedom which is relentlessly projected from various circles of power, the 2A bears all the more import.
From a historical study of weapons and political dynamics, Princeton Civilizational Historian Carroll Quigley concludes that the characteristics of weapons are the main predictor of democracy. Democracy tends to emerge only when the best weapons available are easy for individuals to buy and use. This explains why democracy occurs so rarely in human history.
In the 1800s (peaking in the 1880s), guns were the best weapon available. In America, almost everyone could afford to buy a gun, and could learn how to use it fairly easily. Governments couldn't do any better: it became the age of mass armies of citizen soldiers with guns. (Similarly, Periclean Greece was an age of the citizen soldier and of democracy).
In the 1900s, expensive, specialist weapons (such as tanks and bombers) became available, and citizen soldiers became dominated by specialist soldiers. Quigley notes that the slaughter of World War I (1914-1918) was due to the mismatch between the traditional armies (citizen soldiers) and the available weapons (machine guns used defensively).
We are blessed to live in America’s 249 years of existence. The past hasn’t been easy for everyone or perfect for everyone. To those we are sorry and offer our deepest condolences.
As a nation we have never been perfect but abundantly blessed in many ways.
We were blessed to live in the freest of the world, the richest of the world and the land of opportunity. More importantly because of the signature blessing of the founding of our country and the great sacrifices, we have lived in religious freedom.
In fact the first President, George Washington, would have never been elected probably if James Madison had not had the backing of Pastor John Leland and the Baptists of Virginia.
John Leland and the Baptists fought for religious freedom which had been denied them down through the dark ages. Everyman of every religion had the right to worship as he pleased. God in the garden gave man that right to choose and later he gave that right to Cain. It’s sad to see men choose wrong for their eternal
life would hang on their choice. However, to set up a religious government based on one faith or a denomination over another was a monster as we saw first through the Roman Catholic control of all of Europe then the state Protestant Churches and into even America where Baptists were flogged and put in prison by state churches.
John Leland promised James Madison and the the Baptists votes if he would give us the Bill of Rights and religious freedom. James Madison agreed and the rest is history. Secular government came about by a Baptist. A church government would no longer be the case.
We are blessed to live in the greatest missionary minded country in the whole world. England sent missionaries a few years earlier but only 20 years between Carey of England and Judson of America. Both started mission societies and modern missions.
America has sent missionaries and supported indigenous missionaries and missionary projects around the world since near its beginning.
The door is shutting fast. CBDC or Central Bank Digital Currency will nearly shut down missionary work around the world and it’s coming fast. In fact Europe set a goal for the European Community in Oct. 2025. Missions giving will be stopped by those governments who hate Christianity.
Thank God we have had this opportunity to serve God freely, go to the church of our choice freely and give to missions freely. It’s coming to an end. We should pray daily for mission’s continuance and for those whom we are their lifeline.
May we give God thanks for His blessings, ask for His protection and grace to continue in faith and practice serving Him faithfully at home and abroad. May we thank Him for His blessings to send us faithful men and women who have blazed the trails before us to serve God. We have been truly blessed.
We are homesick for heaven, tired of the wars and rumors of wars and pandemics yet thankful for all God has given us here in America. One day soon, we will take our flight.
Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Heb 11:14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
Heb 11:15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
Heb 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
1Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Squire Parsons sang a song he wrote called “I’m Kind of Homesick for a Country, to Whence I’ve Never Been Before”. Friend, I am thankful for my earthly country, but now I’m ready to take my heavenly flight!
It isn’t just the left, Trump had the ATF ban bump stocks after the Las Vegas shooting. Thankfully a hero emerged here in TX and took it upon himself to take that case on showing the blueprint on how to defeat these illegal laws and mandates. These agencies notoriously try to enact laws/regulations that they have no right to enact much like the CDC with their rent moratorium back in 2020. That was how he defeated them, pointing out they don’t have the power constitutionally to do this. Only Congress can enact law but these agencies just keep on doing it because they know it takes a lot of time, effort and money along with willing parties to fight them.
Good point SSG ... if I were going to celebrate, it would be for the tenuous, remaining ability for self defense. Unfortunately, there is little other reason imho ...

“A Well Regulated Militia, being necessary to the Security of a Free State - 'The
Right of the People' - To Keep and Bear Arms - Shall Not Be Infringed.”
It's Two Separate Sentences. With Two Different 'Subject Matters' - A Well
Regulated Militia Vs The Right of the People.
"Just ten days after James Madison proposed the Bill of Rights to Congress
in 1789, Tench Coxe, a prominent federalist and life-long correspondent of
Jefferson and Madison, wrote that what became the second amendment would
confirm the people "In Their Right To Keep and Bear Their Private Arms."
Including silencers, any barrel lengths, lights, optics, and so on and so forth.
Fully auto also is a 2A right.
Etc. & etc. & etc.

Today is range day. Stay sharp, stay accurate, and only fire back if someone fires on you first. Or threatens to …
