Yes, polls are BS but we are split as a nation in an abundance of ways. It’s almost like the minds of many who think of themselves as highly intelligent are wired in a way so they are unable to process information correctly. Their minds are unable to adjust to new information so they ignore it and deny it. Their minds are set and no awakening is possible. I just quit trying to get one of my neighbors to open her mind to what’s going on. She’s double vaxxed and double boosted and thinks our government would never do anything to harm us.
Paul Craig Roberts is right in his assessments on the divisions in the US. I've never read anything from him that I considered was wrong. I heard one radio host state that we are facing irreconcilable differences, need to get a divorce and part ways. I'm not sure that we're even dealing with "REAL HUMANS" most of the time these days. It seems to me that we are truly dealing with an invasion of the body snatchers.
Even families are at war with each other. Every week I read about husbands, wives, parents, children, boyfriends, girlfriends and friends killing each other. There was at least 46 reported shootings in Chicago, IL over the Labor Day weekend. Other major cities in the US had a wild, wild West weekend that week too. I think that most of the non-hinged are hoping that the unhinged folks won't migrate near the areas we live in. There are enough enemies at the top of the pyramid to deal with besides the sociopaths at the middle and bottom sections of the pyramid.

Don't shoot the messenger. Roberts is simply noticing social trends and the existing political trend towards increasing division in American society. There is a good reason that political correctness has been described as The War on Noticing. America is not a homogenous society, it is full of people with wildly divergent backgrounds, views and aims, and so they naturally do not get along. When it comes to national unity, diversity is not a strength. Identity politics deliberately exaggerates existing fissures, and is a surefire recipe for social discord.
Perhaps some new great national cause can be manufactured to unite all the squabbling social subgroups, but if current trends continue, separation and self-rule is in the future.

Yeah. Polls are sketchy, across the board. However, my personal observations and understanding have led to the same conclusion, more or less.
