Even for the “about 5% of all cancers [that] are actually curable with chemotherapy”, is the alternative treatment described here as good or better than chemo for this 5%?

My Dad was a hospital administrator for over thirty five years.
When he was diagnosed with cancer in his eighty’s, he said no to chemotherapy.
He passed away almost a year after his diagnosis sitting quietly in his chair in his bedroom reading a book.

I know of a 40 year old woman with acute myeloid leukaemia having chemotherapy atm. She looks worse now than she did before treatment.
