For some reason, this makes me feel a bit shallow or facile - albeit lucky as F - for refusing to get jabbed, because from the start everything around it and about it seemed "skeevy". No scientific or medical basis, initially, for that nope. I did get a polio shot in the mid-fifties, given at an elementary school in Philadelphia. I don't know if there were even permission slips or whatever, since I was living in a big children's home at the time. We went to public schools, and whatever was being doled out for free, we got it.
Still around and prescription free at eighty, never accepted or was given any more jabs since then. Healthy (as it turns out) fear of doctors and hospitals.

Fort Detrick is an Army installation — USAMRIID lives there, and it was the home of the offensive bioweapons program until Nixon shut that down in 1969.
What Fauci did do, as NIAID director, was establish the Integrated Research Facility (IRF) — a NIAID facility physically located inside the gates of Fort Detrick. Construction began around 2004, right around the time Fauci was tasked with absorbing parts of DOD's biodefense and pandemic planning agenda into NIAID's civilian portfolio. This is also when NIAID started receiving DOD money and Fauci's compensation shot up by roughly 65%, making him the highest-paid federal employee.
So the relationship is real and substantive — he put a civilian BSL-4 facility on an Army bioweapons base to "liaise" with military researchers. That integration of military and civilian federal medicine is exactly the kind of institutional blurring that deserves scrutiny, especially given the IRF's likely involvement in gain-of-function research.
