There is a clear distinction between national and global population issues. Nationally we are losing our base and our culture. You might see that as a good thing...I do not. More American babies born of American citizens to take us back above the 2.1 children per couple growth goal would be a good thing. Unfortunately, both marriage and babies are declining in this country ergo the need to import foreign talent. If that continues, America will lose what little technological edge we have left. FAR too many secrets are being 'shared' with our enemies. How much of that is the result of foreigners with endangered familial ties or just a desire to change America to look like where they came from?

Globally, population growth is slowing and it is expected that it will crest at about 11 billion, a supportable number if people are allowed to do what is necessary.

I think we agree that the ideal is the formula births - deaths = 0

Thanks to Boomers, our population is aging and the death rate is going to greatly exceed the birth rate in the coming years. I see no effort to correct will become a serious decline in citizen v. immigrant populations. I'm watching the slow deterioration of our way of life.

I wish the future well but I fear that my grandchildren will not enjoy it as much as I have.
