Long term use of Doxycycline has been done for adult acne treatment and in bone loss due to periodontal disease. They are both low-dose therapy recommendations that mostly result in altering immune system response by reducing inflammation. The problem is if Doxycycline is prescribed as an STD prevention, we are talking long long-term use and most likely at a high dosage. Do we really know what side effects will pop up from that? Gut microbiome is not that big of a deal when it comes to recolonizing, but changing immune system response is a big deal.

I took doxy last summer for about a month after I pulled a tick off that had bitten me.l I had the itching and sun sensitivity for as long as I took it. I have had no symptoms of Lyme. I took a probiotic my functional medicine doctor gave me. I had the test as well.

I just started doing it for the past 4 days and so did a friend and we're both filled with energy and hopeful.
I can tell this, doxycycline didn't touch my sinus infection. Had to go to Augmentin to clear it.
