In South Africa there was a fair use of a veterinary injectable form of Ivermectin. It was very pure in just saline. The dosing was easy enough to do with a syringe.
Some people still were hesitant about oral use and the effective guidance was to take the same dose of the injectable veterinary product and rub it on the skin over the abdomen. The absorption was adequate to provide the treatment.
I read in a Pakistani research paper a while back that they estimated the LD 50 for humans was around 50 mg a kg. Of course that was a single dose, however at one or two mg per kg where the best results are happening seems miniscule by comparison. At two mg per kg that is ten times the dose that kills intestinal worms it would seem there is a huge margin of safety.
