I just got over the sinus infection from Hell! I am going to assume it was covid, and I say assume because there is no way that I'm putting those sticks up my nostrils.

I moved from a suburban area to a semi-rural area in a state that has pollen 10 months out of the year. In 2022, I was convinced I had COVID, but didn't take the test. Had a lot of crossover symptoms, and tried Vitamin I. Did nothing. Finally, after about a month, I went to the doctors.

Sinus infection. Lots of crossover symptoms. Antibiotics took it away last year; this year I had to do a double course of antibiotics to get rid of mine. I suspect part of it was the never ending allergy season due to El Nino.

If you have sinus issues, you might want to try this; my doctor gave this to me, plus liquid allergy meds:

I use that sinus rinse all the time and still have sinus problems. He mentions using FenBen - haven't tried that one yet.

My allergist added budesonide to the nasal rinse (along with the salt) that I get in liquid form. That helped calm things down this year. Plus... I am on a boatload of allergy meds. If you don't have an allergist, it might be worthwhile to find one.

Thanks for that.

PetMectin will not get across the Canadian border, unfortunately.

It will in many cases using the expensive FedEx express ship option that costs $90.

If you don't mind taking actual horse paste, it is available in Canada.

And yes, I have.

Whiskeys: Can you tell me what dosage you use? I see the lowest setting is for body weight of 250 lbs. Will that setting work even if one weighs 75 lbs less than that? Answer very much appreciated!

2 12 mg pills, you weigh as much as me. Pair it with one Fenbendozale!

Thanks very much Chris! I still need to get some Fenben. But I’ll start with the paste for now. BTW, Sasha Latypova says she prefers the paste to the tablets.

Ok, stuck the chart in my cloud, so here you go

That is incredibly low rez. If you have a normal rez version please share.

Wonderful, thank you! Got the chart...however, it looks like it uses weight in relation to mg. doses in tablet form. I haven’t been able to easily convert those mg doses to the dosage amounts in the tube.

So, you don’t go by the weight indications on the tube. But from my understanding a 1/4 of a tube would be a bit more than the 250 lb indicator line indicates...is that right? And at your 100 lb weight you have no issues with that.

Does this help?

Ivermectin is in a 6.42 gram tube of a product with a concentration of 1.7% w/w. So 1 tube has 0.10914 grams of active ingredient or 109 mg:

Amount of active ingredient = total mass of product × concentration

In this case, the total mass of the product is 6.42 grams, and the concentration of the active ingredient is 1.7% w/w (weight/weight), which means there are 1.7 grams of active ingredient in every 100 grams of the product.

That’s interesting...your Canadian tubes are at 1.7% concentration and my US tube is at 1.87%! So, calculations would be slightly different. And Canadian tubes don’t have weight markings, I guess.

However, you’ve provided enough information for me to use the 250 lb marker level.

And you take it on an empty stomach, yes?

I don't have issues. I usually take it in the evening, and once in a while I get the 'neon effect' as I call it for a few hours in the morning- everything is a little too bright.

Excellent. Truly much appreciated. That should confirm that I ( at 170 lbs) can use the dosage level for the 250 lb marker on the tube. Thanks again, whiskeys.

I take about a quarter of a tube if I've got a cold, feel fluey, and I weigh 100 lbs. A friend of mine worked out a chart for weight/amount, I'll see if I can dig it up for you.

I can get via prescription, but I'd need a prescription. Available OTC in your case?

From your local farm supply store. No prescription needed.

Bad choice.

Get pharmaceutical grade IVM and grind down in mortar and pestle, then add pH neutral organic base cream.

Wow. That can be done?? Who knew? Great idea. Thank you.

I just read yesterday there is an expensive “cream” form of ivermectin that works on rosacea!! The theory being that it is small mites that cause the rosacea and inflammation (of course they aren’t sure and the cream is super expensive). Ethical Skeptic talks about it here- just another idea for you? What other skin conditions could a cream form cure?

Thank you for this, Charlotte. Is the generic form of Soolantra the "horse paste" we're not supposed to use that can be found in animal supply stores?

SheThinksLiberty: See my post and Thread above for more detailed information. It relates to the Durvet Apple Flavored paste at supply stores.

I’m honestly not sure, I haven’t done a big dive- but I think one of the links should have the ingredients of the “cream” to compare to the “paste”?

Expand full comment

Soolantra active ingredient is 1% ivermectin. Guessing most the rest of the ingredients are a simple skin cream. Most the ivermectin paste for horses is 1.87% ivermectin and doubt there would be any concerns using that topically. You could always mix the 1.87% 2:1 with a skin cream to get ~0.9% if you were really worried.

I actually found on Walgreens (another reader alerted me and then erased their message!) an ivermectin lotion with .5%- it’s used for lice lol, but one of the reviews online said specifically they used it for their rosacea and it worked :)

If you do a deep dive, there are those that say Ivermectin works on certain cancers. As well as something called Fenbendazole. Both anti- parasitics.

Keep up the good work!

What does FenBen do to help a sinus infection and a skin problem?? I haven't heard this before, but I'm willing to try it. I've been dealing with both for awhile and have not found anything else to help. I use the Xlear sinus rinse but that is very temporary. Also eczema on my ankles that won't go away! I have the IVM and FenBen - just haven't used it since I didn't know.

I have a severe allergy to doxycycline and it’s often mentioned in Covid protocols. What other antibiotic would work equally well!
