It is all out in the open - for anyone willing to look. I think it smells of desperation, and of course hubris. But my guess is, given how obvious they've become, they are feeling a tight time-crunch and this is where they ultimately fail.
And everything these sociopaths plan is supposed to be for the good and the benefit of humanity. I don't believe I could create a worse life for myself.
